During 2008 St Peter’s will be part of this national initiative offering churches a framework for mission and outreach. A range of opportunities has been identified for churches to connect with their local communities in special ways throughout the year. All our partner churches in Churches Together in the Westbury Area (CTWA) are participating.
- Early in the year there will be courses on offer to help people develop new or existing skills in different ways. St Peters will be hosting Noughts to Sixes, a parenting course for parents of young children
- The Chorus for Creation community choir is rehearsing in readiness to perform on Saturday 1st March. If you would like to join in, contact Ricky Winn (962 4723) a.s.a.p. All abilities—and particularly tenors—welcome!
- Plans to celebrate Holy Week and Easter with art work by school children and local residents are underway
- Contacts with churches in Southmead are being established to prepare for a community clearance and tidy-up project over the May Bank Holiday. If you would like to do something constructive and helpful and get to know more people, Christian and non-Christian, in North Bristol, put The Noise, 3rd—5th May in your diary now
- St Peter’s will hold its second Henleaze Community Fair on Sat 28th June
- There will be a Gardening Event, as part of a series of events across CTWA in the first days of July.
- Our Key Group programme will be looking forward to welcoming newcomers in September
- Some special events are being planned for celebrating Christmas in December
Hope 08 is about fitting what churches already plan to be doing into a wider ecumenical and national Christian context, with support and ideas being added as churches work together.
