At St Peter's we support charitable, relief, and educational work in the UK and abroad

We have strong links with Christians in Northern Uganda an area that has suffered the effects of war and rebel activity for many years. We receive regular news from our friends there, we welcome visitors, and encourage parishioners to travel to Uganda themselves.

After enduring 20 years of war, peace now seems a real possibility and the people of N Uganda are able to look forward to the massive task of re-building their lives. Many families are homeless and a whole generation of young people has missed out on education and skill development. They need our prayers and support.

We recently had the opportunity of sending a container of educational equipment to Kitgum, which Cannon Stuart Taylor saw in Kitgum during a recent visit. He also attended the consecration of the new bishop Rev. Canon Johnson Gakumba. He tells of these in an interesting account.

The container was full of equiment from Nailsea School - here is what was sent ...

350 boxes of varying size, the majority of which have in them much used school textbooks. .
15  Wood bookcases
236 Stacking chairs
50  2 person tables
20  1 person small desks
8 Apple Mac computers
4 Overhead projectors
6 TVs
10 Whiteboards
20 plastic storage boxes

We also support mission work overseas through CMS and USPG, have ongoing connections with a range of UK based charities - notably Christian Aid and The Children's Society, and locally in Bristol we support the work of the Community of the Sisters of the Church, based in Ashley Road, St Paul's.
