Palm Sunday, on 28th, marks the start of Holy Week. The 9.45am Sung Eucharist will have Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem as its focus. The first part of the service will include dramatic portrayals of Jesus clearing the Temple of the moneychangers and traders, and of the Pharisees asking Jesus about the payment of taxes. Enactments of these incidents, which contributed so powerfully to the religious authorities of Jesus’ time taking against him, coupled with suitable prayers, will then lead into the second half of our Sung Eucharist.

At 6.30pm we will have ‘A Meditation on the Passion of Jesus Christ’ – a service adapted from one held at St John’s College, Cambridge last year. The liturgy will have three sections, each having an antiphon, poem, anthem, Gospel reading, collect and hymn. The account of Jesus’ Passion will be told in full, but broken up and movingly reflected on in different ways, with the help of readers and the choir.

The 7.30pm Sung Eucharist on Maundy Thursday (1st April) will move into a Vigil with people attending for as little or as long as they want between 8.30pm and 11.00pm. Jesus’ Farewell Discourse (John chapters 14-17) teamed with psalms and prayers will provide a framework for this opportunity to enter, in a very small way, into the experience of the Garden of Gethsemane.

A selection of Stations set out in the church on Good Friday (2nd April) will offer an opportunity for prayer and contemplation from 12.00pm to 1.15pm on this most solemn day of the Christian year. Our Good Friday Service from 1.30pm – 3.00pm, will be led by our curate, Caroline Yandell.

On Holy Saturday morning (3rd April), in tandem with the church being decorated ready for Easter, an Easter Trail will be held, with activities and worship enabling children to learn and engage with the events of Holy Week and Easter in an age appropriate way.

Our Easter Day services (4th April) will comprise 8.00am Said Communion, 9.45am Family Communion and 6.30pm BCP Choral Evensong.
